Just Rambling

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone on their successful baby pickups over the last couple weeks.  I think it's amazing and I can only imagine how you feel.  As for me, the last couple weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions.  I received the following scan of my little ones:

When I saw that scan, everything felt very real.  It is strange because one minute, I'm very excited about becoming a new parent.  The next minute, I'm nervous about whether I'll be a good parent and the challenges of raising twins as a single dad, and then the next minute I am nervous again LOL. The above scan was sent to me on Jan 16th so I should be due for another one next week sometime.  I'm interested in seeing how they have grown.

Speaking of nervousness, I am a bit nervous about the upcoming fetal reduction.  I don't see it discussed much on the blogs although that could be because most of the time no more than two embryos take.  I must thank SCI because they gave me a wealth of information about the process of fetal reduction to ultimately bring this pregnancy down to a twin pregnancy (thank goodness because I don't know what I would do with four children as a single dad LOL).  My surromomma is 9 weeks right now and the reduction will take place between 9-11 weeks.  She will likely be in the hospital for a couple days and will have a social worker at her side the entire side.  I cannot thank her enough for what she is doing for me.  I bet she didn't expect all four to take either.

I haven't shared much about my family but I think I will do so now...

I am the youngest of 4 children and the only child between both of my parents.  My mom was previously married and had my sister T and my brother M. She then had a divorce.  My dad was previously married and had my sister D; his wife passed away long before I was born.  My brother and two sisters are around 9-10 years older then me.  I am freshly 31 as of 1/1/13.  I also have a good friend/godsister named T (lets call her TJ since my sister's initials start with T).  Anyway, my parents are still together and my grandmother (maternal) lives with them about 10mins from me.  My sister D also lives about 10mins from me. D recently had her first child "M" in October 2011. He turns 2 this year.

My sister D and my godsister TJ know that I have two beautiful babies on the way.  They are more excited then I am, if that's possible.  My sister gets all giddy everytime I see her and she cannot wait until they get here so my nephew M and my twins C&C (Just a little teaser...I will disclose the names when they get here this summer) can grow up together and turn this world upside-down. (I must of just spoke my sister D up because she just sent me a text)  Its nice because we all live within a 10-15min drive from each other.

Anyway, this blog was just me rambling about a few things. There are a few more things I want to discuss but I will blog about that later.  Have a great weekend everyone...

  1. Good luck and hang in there. It's a roller coaster of emotions but the patience and positive thoughts all pay off in another 7 months or so! As for the reduction, it's an unfortunate necessity...but one that they are very experienced at doing. We had to do a double reduction as we had four...and we were pulling our hair out. It all went well though and we had nothing to worry about. The recovery time for your surrogate is very short and all will be fine!

    1. Yeah SCI has my complete trust. I'm glad my surrogate will recover quickly and there will be more room for my twins.

  2. I hope I can be as lucky as you are! We won't go for 2 surro, because we can't take care of 4 babies physically, financially, and emotionally. As for the reduction, my sense is SCI has ample of experience on this, so don't worry about it. I wish you a boring pregnancy!

    1. Yeah SCI definitely knows what they are doing. I couldn't imagine taking care of 4 babies. I'd have to write Oprah a good letter lol.

  3. I will check in on her while I'm here!! Everything is going to be just fine, and you will make an EXCELLENT daddy. Going to be some really lucky kids.

  4. I know someone who had a fetal reduction from 4 to 2 as well, so more evidence that you are in good hands with SCI. He is currently at 13 weeks and all is well. Best of luck with this difficult situation.

    1. Thx Ben. I'm sure everything will be fine. I'm at 9 weeks right now. Me and your friend may be in town for baby pickup around the same time.
